COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) course is structured over three years to build knowledge, practical skills, and professional understanding of health and social care systems. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation by studying core topics such as health and social care policy, workplace practice, academic research, and social justice, alongside exploring the needs of children and young people within care settings. This year also focuses on building essential academic and communication skills. In Year 2, students deepen their understanding through modules in research in practice, public health, communication skills, and international perspectives on health and social care. They also examine the needs of older people and can choose optional modules such as creative helping practices or community health to tailor their learning. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced professional practice, with modules covering leadership and management, safe and effective care, and critical analysis of changing policies and systems in integrated health and social care. Students also complete a major project, demonstrating their ability to apply research and analytical skills to real-world issues. Academic language support is available for international students throughout the course, and graduates are well-prepared for careers in health, social care, and community services.
