COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Investment Management BSc (Hons) at Newcastle Business School is structured to provide students with a thorough grounding in both the theoretical and practical aspects of finance, investment, and business management. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge in mathematics and statistics, accounting, economics, and finance in a global context, alongside modules in financial decision-making, business analysis, and career preparation, with optional language support for international and EU students. Year 2 advances technical and professional expertise through modules on financial markets and institutions, professional practice in accounting, economics, and finance, econometrics, personal finance and wealth planning, derivatives and risk, and mathematics for economics and finance, while also offering an optional study abroad semester to gain international exposure and experience. Year 3 focuses on applying knowledge in practical and strategic contexts, with core modules in sustainable development and responsible business, risk management in financial institutions, and investment management. Students may also choose optional modules including a dissertation, management enquiry, or an undergraduate consultancy project, providing opportunities for research, applied problem-solving, and real-world experience. Across all three years, the program integrates analytical, quantitative, and professional skills, preparing graduates with the expertise, practical experience, and industry insight required to pursue successful careers in finance, investment, and related sectors worldwide.
