COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Technology at Northumbria University is a three-year program designed to develop students’ technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and professional competence in computing and technology. In the first year, students study core modules in algorithms and programming fundamentals, foundations of computing technology, database design and implementation, data communications and networks, web design and development, and software engineering principles, with academic language support available for international students. This establishes a solid foundation in computing principles, programming, and system design. The second and third years build on this knowledge through modules in cloud computing technologies, cyber security, systems and processes in a business context, developing digital and professional competence, and contemporary issues in computing and digital technologies. Students also have the opportunity to engage in practical work experiences through optional internships, group consultancy projects, and professional practice at the London Campus, allowing them to apply their learning in real-world settings. Across all three years, the program emphasizes analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, and the practical application of computing and technology solutions to business operations. Graduates leave equipped with the technical skills, professional awareness, and practical experience necessary for careers in IT, computing, and technology-driven industries, and are prepared to contribute effectively to organisational digital transformation and technological innovation.
