COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Information Technology Management at Northumbria University is a three-year program designed to develop students’ technical expertise, analytical skills, and professional competence in computing and IT management. In the first year, students study core modules including algorithms and programming fundamentals, foundations of computing technology, database design and implementation, data communications and networks, web design and development, and software engineering principles, with academic language support available for international students. This year provides a solid foundation in computing principles and practical skills. The second year expands knowledge through core modules in cloud computing technologies, cyber security, systems and processes in a business context, developing digital and professional competence, and contemporary issues in computing, while optional internships, professional practice, and group consultancy projects at the London Campus provide hands-on, real-world experience. The final year focuses on advanced topics including technology strategy and leadership for sustainability, business intelligence, design for innovation, DevOps principles, and a substantial undergraduate project, equipping students with both technical and managerial skills. Throughout the program, students develop problem-solving, analytical, and project management abilities, preparing them for careers in IT management, business intelligence, software development, and technology-driven industries, while enabling them to contribute effectively to organisational innovation, digital transformation, and strategic technology solutions.
