COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Cyber Security Technology at Northumbria University is a three-year program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of computing principles alongside specialised knowledge in cyber security and digital forensics. In the first year, students study core modules in algorithms and programming fundamentals, foundations of computing technology, database design and implementation, data communications and networks, web design and development, and software engineering principles, with academic language support available for international students. This establishes a strong technical foundation and prepares students for advanced study. The second year builds on this knowledge with modules in cloud computing technologies, cyber security, business systems and processes, digital and professional competence, and contemporary computing issues, while optional internships, professional practice, and group consultancy projects at the London Campus provide practical, real-world experience. The final year focuses on advanced cyber security topics, including digital forensics, ethical hacking, cyber security governance and assurance, technology strategy, and leadership for sustainability, alongside a substantial undergraduate project. Throughout the course, students develop problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills, equipping them to design, implement, and manage secure computing systems. Graduates are prepared for careers in cyber security, digital forensics, IT governance, and risk management, ready to address evolving cyber threats and contribute to protecting digital infrastructures in professional and organisational contexts.
