COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Artificial Intelligence Technology at Northumbria University is a three-year program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in computing alongside specialised knowledge in artificial intelligence. In the first year, students study core modules in algorithms and programming fundamentals, foundations of computing technology, database design and implementation, data communications and networks, web design and development, and software engineering principles, with academic language support available for international students. This year establishes essential technical skills and a broad understanding of computing systems. The second year develops advanced expertise through core modules in cloud computing technologies, cyber security, business systems and processes, digital and professional competence, and contemporary issues in computing and digital technologies. Students also have the option to participate in internships, professional practice, or group consultancy projects at the London Campus, providing valuable real-world experience. The final year focuses on artificial intelligence and its applications, including programming for AI, machine learning on cloud platforms, contemporary AI technologies, and a substantial undergraduate project, alongside modules in technology strategy and leadership for sustainability. Throughout the course, students gain practical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in AI, cloud computing, machine learning, and related technology sectors, while equipping them to contribute to innovation and emerging digital solutions in professional contexts.
