COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years to provide a thorough understanding of biomedical science through a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation in key areas such as cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, and introductory pathological sciences, supported by essential laboratory skills. In Year 2, the course builds on this knowledge with more specialised topics including microbiology and immunology, biology of disease, cellular and transfusion science, medical biochemistry, and molecular biology, while also enhancing research and analytical skills through bioscience research modules. In the final year, students engage with advanced subjects such as molecular cell interactions, pathology in practice, and analytical techniques, while completing a significant research project that applies their learning to real-world biomedical challenges. Optional modules, including genomics, drug design and development, and focused biomedicine topics, allow students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Overall, the program equips students with the scientific knowledge, laboratory expertise, and research skills needed for careers in biomedical science, healthcare, research, or further postgraduate study.
