COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biological Sciences BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years to provide a strong foundation and advanced knowledge of key biological concepts. In Year 1, students develop core understanding in areas such as cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and plant and animal biology, alongside essential practical laboratory skills that support scientific learning. In Year 2, the course builds on this foundation with more specialised topics including biology of disease, molecular biology, and human metabolism, while offering a variety of optional modules such as environmental biology, biotechnology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests. A focus on bioscience research and analysis further enhances critical thinking and investigative abilities. In the final year, students engage with advanced subjects such as molecular cell interactions, analytical techniques, and the societal impact of science, while completing a substantial research project that applies their knowledge to real-world scientific challenges. Optional modules provide further opportunities for specialisation in areas like microbiology, genomics, or neuroscience. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge with practical and research experience, preparing graduates for careers in biosciences, healthcare, research, or further postgraduate study.
