COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Extended Degree) BEng (Hons) is a four-year program designed to build strong technical, analytical, and practical engineering skills. The Foundation Year introduces essential topics such as mathematical methods, physics, trigonometry, calculus, electricity, and basic programming, providing a solid base for further study. In Year 1, students develop core knowledge through modules including Engineering Mathematics, Computer Programming, Digital Electronics and Communications, Electricity and Magnetism, Energy Systems, and research and presentation skills, with additional academic language support for international and EU students. Year 2 deepens this understanding with advanced topics such as Advanced Engineering Mathematics, Analogue Electronics and Instrumentation, C Programming and Digital Systems, Communication Systems, Power Machines and Renewable Energy, and Electrical Product Development, strengthening both theoretical and practical expertise. Year 3 offers flexibility through optional opportunities for work placements or study abroad, either as a full year or a semester, allowing students to gain valuable industry experience and global exposure. In Year 4, students focus on advanced and specialised areas, including Design and Manufacturing Analysis, Instrumentation and Control, and an Individual Engineering Project, alongside optional modules such as Power Systems, Embedded Systems, Wireless and RF Design, Satellite Systems, and Smart Energy Systems. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in engineering, technology, and energy sectors.
