COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Satellite Engineering (Extended Degree) BEng (Hons) program is structured over four years to develop strong foundations and advanced expertise in engineering and space technologies. The foundation year introduces essential concepts in mathematics, physics, mechanics, electricity, and algorithms, preparing students for degree-level study. In Year 1, students build core engineering knowledge through subjects such as materials and manufacturing, thermodynamics, engineering mathematics, electronics, and an introduction to aerospace and satellite engineering, alongside programming and digital systems. Year 2 advances this learning with more specialised topics, including finite element analysis, advanced mathematics, communication systems, aerospace design, satellite power systems, and C programming. Year 3 offers flexible opportunities to gain practical and international experience, allowing students to undertake a full work placement year, study abroad, or a combination of both through semester-based options, enhancing employability and global exposure. In the final year, students focus on advanced and applied areas such as wireless and RF systems, satellite mission design, and space environments, while completing a major individual engineering project. Optional modules like vibration and control, embedded systems, and data science allow further specialisation, preparing graduates for careers in aerospace and the space sector.
