COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Extended Degree) BEng (Hons) is structured to provide a strong foundation and progressive development of technical and practical engineering skills. The Foundation Year introduces essential concepts in mathematics, physics, and engineering, including trigonometry, calculus, mechanics, energy, electricity, and basic programming, preparing students for advanced study. In Year 1, students build core knowledge through modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Computer Programming, Digital Electronics and Communications, Electricity and Magnetism, Energy Systems, and research skills, alongside academic language support for international and EU students. Year 2 advances this learning with more specialised topics including Advanced Engineering Mathematics, Analogue Electronics, C Programming, Communication Systems, Power Machines, Renewable Energy, and Electrical Product Development, strengthening both theoretical understanding and practical application. In Year 3, students focus on advanced and applied engineering topics, with core modules such as Design and Manufacturing Analysis, Instrumentation and Control of Dynamical Systems, and an Individual Engineering Project, alongside optional modules including Power Systems, Embedded Systems, Wireless and RF Systems Design, Satellite Systems, and Smart Energy Systems. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on problem-solving, innovation, and hands-on experience, preparing graduates for careers in electrical and electronic engineering, energy, communications, and related technology sectors.
