COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Satellite Engineering (Extended Degree) BEng (Hons) program is structured to build strong technical knowledge and practical skills across four stages of study. The foundation year introduces essential concepts in mathematics, physics, mechanics, electricity, and algorithms, preparing students for more advanced engineering topics. In Year 1, students develop core engineering knowledge through modules such as materials and manufacturing, thermodynamics, engineering mathematics, electronics, and an introduction to aerospace and satellite engineering, alongside programming and digital systems. Year 2 deepens this understanding with more specialised subjects, including mechanics and finite element analysis, advanced mathematics, communication systems, aerospace design, satellite power systems, and further programming skills. In Year 3, students focus on advanced and applied areas of satellite engineering, including wireless and RF systems, satellite mission design, and space environments, while also completing a major individual engineering project. Optional modules such as vibration and control, embedded systems, and data science allow students to tailor their learning to their interests. Overall, the program provides a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and technical expertise, preparing graduates for careers in aerospace, satellite engineering, and the wider space technology sector.
