COURSE CURRICULUM

The Automotive Engineering BEng (Hons) program is structured over three years to develop strong technical knowledge and practical skills in engineering. In Year 1, students build a solid foundation through modules such as engineering analytics, materials and manufacturing, statics and dynamics, thermodynamics, and applied engineering approaches, helping them develop core analytical and problem-solving abilities. In Year 2, the course progresses to more advanced topics, including mechanics and finite element analysis, engineering project management, and automotive-specific subjects such as automotive engineering design and automotive fluids and energy. These modules integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing students for industry challenges. In Year 3, students focus on advanced and specialised areas of automotive engineering, including vehicle dynamics and control, while also completing a significant investigative project that allows them to apply their learning to a real-world problem. Optional modules such as automation and mechatronics, global design challenges, performance modelling, and vehicle aerodynamics enable students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Throughout the program, academic language support is available for international and EU students. Overall, the course provides a balanced combination of theory, practical experience, and professional skills for careers in automotive engineering.
