COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Philosophy & Computer Science program is structured to provide a balanced education in both disciplines while allowing students to integrate their learning across fields. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in computer science through courses in discrete structures and programming, while philosophy modules introduce them to key areas such as logic, ethics, and human values. The second year deepens this foundation with more advanced computing subjects like object-oriented design, algorithms, and database design, alongside core philosophical areas such as ancient philosophy, epistemology, metaphysics, or philosophy of mind, with opportunities to study AI and data ethics. Students may also choose to spend a semester abroad, broadening their perspective by following US curriculum courses at Northeastern University. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced and specialised study, including software engineering, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and courses in philosophy of logic and language, political philosophy, or advanced ethics. The program culminates in an integrative final project that combines both disciplines, encouraging students to connect technical knowledge with philosophical insight. With elective courses available throughout, students can tailor their pathway to individual interests, developing strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with wide career applicability.
