COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics degree is structured across three years to provide a solid foundation in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and applied contexts, while allowing flexibility through electives. In the first year, students study the fundamentals of Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Mathematics, and Statistics, complemented by four elective courses to broaden their academic scope. The second year develops deeper insights into economic behaviour and global issues, with courses such as Microeconomics and Behaviour, Macroeconomics and Economic Crises, Econometrics and Programming, and Advancing Global Progress. Students also have the opportunity to study abroad at Northeastern University in the USA during the second semester, adding an international dimension to their education, alongside four more electives. The final year focuses on advanced and applied study, beginning with Social and Heterodox Economics and culminating in a final project that integrates knowledge and research skills. Students can also specialise by choosing three from courses such as Political Economy and Globalisation, Political Economy in Action, Corporate Finance, or Econometrics and Forecasting, in addition to two electives. This progression ensures graduates develop strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for diverse careers in economics, finance, policy, and global organisations.
