COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Psychology degree is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of human thought, emotion, and behaviour. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge with courses such as Foundations of Psychology, Biological Bases of Human and Animal Behaviour, Developmental Psychology: The Human Being Across the Life Span, and Structure and Function of the Human Brain, complemented by four elective courses to broaden academic interests. The second year deepens this understanding with core subjects including Cognitive Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Psychology of Individual Differences, and Social Psychology: Group and Intergroup Dynamics. Students continue to take four electives and have the option to study abroad at Northeastern University in the USA, gaining international exposure and broadening their perspective on psychological research and practice. In the final year, students focus on applied and advanced topics through courses such as Clinical Psychology and Research Review in Psychology, while completing a substantial Final Project that integrates learning across the program. Four additional electives allow further personalisation of the degree. Throughout the course, students develop critical thinking, analytical, research, and communication skills, preparing them for diverse careers in clinical and counselling psychology, education, research, human resources, health and social care, and other fields that require a strong understanding of human behaviour and scientific methodology.
