COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Culture, Technology & Global Challenges degree is structured to build a strong foundation in humanities while integrating the study of technology and its impact on society. In the first year, students explore culture, philosophy, and history through courses such as Exploring Culture with Technology, Introduction to Philosophy, The World Since 1945, and Criticism: Practice. They also develop creative and analytical skills through subjects like Visual Intelligence, Creative Non-Fiction, and Technology and Human Values, while engaging in an experiential project to apply ideas in practice. The second year deepens engagement with contemporary global issues and the intersections of technology, politics, and creativity. Courses include Political Arguments in Action, AI and Data Ethics, Digital Creative Writing, Public History and Heritage, and Global Fascism, along with options for directed study in English, Philosophy, History, Art and Design, or Creative Writing. Students also examine digital media and the relationship between machines, creativity, and the human mind. In the final year, the focus shifts toward global perspectives and future challenges through courses such as International Organisations, Political Thought Beyond Europe, and Imagining Planetary Futures. A major experiential final project and open electives allow students to consolidate learning and demonstrate practical impact.
