COURSE CURRICULUM

The Technical BIM Management module (60 credits) focuses on the technical aspects of Building Information Modelling (BIM) across the entire asset lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and facilities management (FM). The module emphasizes the integration of 3D models, graphical and non-graphical data, database systems, and documentation. Students will learn best practices for coordinating technical teams from various disciplines to create, construct, and manage models for buildings and infrastructure. Additionally, the module develops skills for researching emerging BIM practices and processes, while also fostering abilities in reviewing, critically analyzing, reporting, and presenting related issues.The Operational BIM Management module (60 credits) takes a broader, organizational perspective, focusing on BIM's strategic implementation within an organization. This module will equip students with the knowledge to forecast risks, design protocols, ensure quality assurance, assess budget planning, and define commercial partnership opportunities. Students will also learn how to implement BIM at an organizational level, handling change management and training strategies. This module stresses the creation of cross-disciplinary teams and the development of an organizational structure and roles that align with the organization’s BIM adoption strategy.The Strategic BIM Management module (60 credits) closely parallels the Operational BIM Management module in its focus on strategic issues but with a deeper emphasis on integrated digital delivery strategies at the organizational level. Students will explore how to forecast risks, design quality assurance protocols, manage budgets, and create financial and commercial partnerships for successful BIM implementation. Like the Operational BIM module, it also covers change management, training strategies, and the establishment of cross-disciplinary teams, all tailored to an organization’s specific BIM adoption strategy.
