COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Science MSc at Middlesex is structured around a blend of compulsory and optional modules designed to provide both breadth and depth of knowledge in the field. Core modules include Biology and Diagnosis of Disease, which examines the mechanisms and identification of various illnesses, and Advanced Bioanalytical Techniques, offering training in cutting-edge tools for biomedical investigation. Experimental Design and Statistics develops essential skills for planning research and interpreting data, while Bioethics introduces critical discussions around the ethical considerations of modern biomedical practice. Leadership and Management prepares students to take on professional responsibilities and lead within laboratory and healthcare environments. The program culminates in a substantial Research Project, worth 60 credits, where students apply their learning to an independent piece of scientific investigation, fostering innovation and critical analysis. In addition, the course offers optional specialism modules, allowing students to tailor their study towards specific areas of interest, such as Cellular Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion Science, The Immune Response and Immunotherapy, or Medical Genomics.
