COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Science (Medical Genomics) MSc at Middlesex University is designed to provide advanced knowledge and practical skills in the rapidly evolving field of medical genomics and biomedical research. The program integrates core scientific principles with hands-on laboratory and research experience, preparing graduates for careers in biomedical science, clinical research, genomics, and related healthcare fields. Compulsory modules include Biology and Diagnosis of Disease, which covers the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying human diseases and diagnostic approaches, and Advanced Bioanalytical Techniques, providing practical skills in laboratory methods and data analysis. Experimental Design and Statistics equips students with essential quantitative skills for designing, conducting, and interpreting scientific research, while Bioethics and Leadership and Management develop professional awareness, ethical understanding, and management capabilities crucial for working in biomedical and clinical environments. The program culminates in a 60-credit Research Project, where students undertake independent research, applying both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to real-world biomedical challenges. An optional module in Medical Genomics allows students to specialise in genomic technologies, data analysis, and their application in personalised medicine.
