COURSE CURRICULUM

The course offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in biomedical science, with a focus on haematology, oncology, and transfusion science. The "Advanced Bioanalytical Techniques" module (15 credits) introduces students to cutting-edge bioanalytical methods used in biomedical research, focusing on disease biomarker analysis and improving understanding of diseases. Students will gain insights into the principles, theory, and application of bioanalytical techniques, including safety, instrumentation, and sample preparation, alongside the interpretation of analytical data.The "Biomedical Ethics and Law" module (15 credits) provides students with a critical understanding of ethical and legal issues related to biomedical research, including human and animal subjects, reproductive technologies, and genetic testing. It also offers an overview of UK ethical and legal regulations governing research involving human tissues, with an emphasis on ethical dilemmas arising from genetic technologies. "Blood Analysis and Pathology" (15 credits) explores the principles and diagnostic techniques of haematology, detailing the molecular mechanisms of haematological diseases and the role of the haematology laboratory in patient diagnosis and treatment.The "Experimental Design and Statistics" module (15 credits) equips students with the tools to design experiments and perform statistical analysis within a hypothesis-testing framework. "Haemato-oncology" (15 credits) introduces students to specialized diagnostic techniques in haemato-oncology, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of cancers like leukemias, lymphomas, and myelomas, and the role of haematology laboratories in treating these conditions.
