COURSE CURRICULUM

The course provides comprehensive knowledge and skills in various areas of biomedical science, focusing on both theoretical understanding and practical application. The "Advanced Bioanalytical Techniques" module (15 credits) equips students with the knowledge of advanced bioanalytical methods used in biomedical research and disease analysis. This includes understanding the principles, theory, and practice of these techniques, covering areas such as safety, instrumentation, and sample preparation. The "Biomedical Ethics and Law" module (15 credits) addresses ethical and legal issues related to professional practice and research involving human and animal subjects, with a focus on reproductive technology, genetic technology, and UK regulations for research using human tissues. The "Cancer" module (15 credits) delves into the principles of carcinogenesis, malignancy, and metastasis, providing students with a detailed understanding of cellular pathology and its application in the diagnosis and management of various cancers. In the "Experimental Design and Statistics" module (15 credits), students learn how to design effective experiments and use statistical tools for hypothesis testing. The "Genetics Disorders" module (15 credits) covers the role of genetic testing in diagnosing and managing genetic disorders and its implications for family members. The "Leadership and Management" module (15 credits) introduces students to contemporary theories of leadership and management, helping them develop the skills needed to lead or manage teams effectively. "Major Organ Histopathology" (15 credits) focuses on the cellular structure and function of major organs, alongside the pathological findings in clinical disorders other than cancer. The "Pathological Basis of Disease" module (15 credits) provides students with an understanding of the use of histopathology and cytopathology in disease diagnosis. Finally, the "Research Project" module (60 credits) offers students the opportunity to plan and execute a laboratory-based study, critically evaluating research results and developing communication skills to present findings both orally and in writing.
