COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Psychology MSc at Middlesex University is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge, research skills, and practical expertise in applied psychological settings. The program combines core theoretical understanding with hands-on experience, preparing graduates for careers in counselling, psychotherapy, research, and other applied psychology fields. In the first stage, students engage with modules such as Research and Issues in Applied Psychology, which explores contemporary debates, ethical considerations, and professional challenges in the discipline, and Statistical Literacy for Psychological Science, which develops essential quantitative skills for analysing psychological data. Qualitative Psychology in Practice complements these skills by providing practical experience in designing, conducting, and interpreting qualitative research. Students also study Counselling and Psychotherapy in Applied Psychology, gaining insights into therapeutic approaches, intervention strategies, and client-centred practice. The program culminates in the Research: Practice and Reporting module, a 60-credit project where students undertake an independent research study, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods to real-world problems, and developing advanced skills in analysis, critical evaluation, and professional reporting.
