COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM (General) at Middlesex is structured to provide both foundational skills and opportunities for specialised research or practical application. Legal Research Skills, a core 30-credit module, equips students with advanced abilities to analyse, interpret, and apply legal information effectively, forming a strong basis for academic work and professional practice. This module develops critical thinking, rigorous research methods, and clear legal writing, ensuring students can engage confidently with complex legal issues. In addition to this core module, students choose between two 60-credit options to tailor their learning to their career goals. The Dissertation pathway allows students to undertake in-depth independent research on a legal topic of their choice, applying analytical and problem-solving skills to generate original insights and contribute to scholarly discourse. Alternatively, the Work Integrated Learning option provides practical experience in a professional setting, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world legal, business, or policy challenges while developing workplace competencies. Together, these components combine academic rigour with either research or professional practice, ensuring that graduates of the LLM (General) are well-prepared to pursue careers in legal practice, policy-making, business, or academia, equipped with the analytical, research, and applied skills needed to succeed in a complex global legal environment.
