COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, you will build the foundation of your legal knowledge by studying key aspects of the English legal system, contract law, and public law. The English Legal System module will help you understand the structure and function of the English legal system, the role of legal institutions, and alternative dispute resolution methods. Public Law will explore the UK Constitution, the powers of the state, and aspects of human rights and civil liberties within the UK.Year 2 focuses on core areas of law, including criminal law, tort law, and criminology. Criminal Law will provide you with an understanding of key principles and cases in criminal law, helping you develop skills in legal problem-solving and research. Tort will teach you the foundational aspects of tort law, covering topics like negligence, defamation, and product liability. The Rethinking Crime and Justice module will dive into criminological theories and debates, exploring the social, political, and cultural impacts on crime and justice. You will also reflect on contemporary issues in criminology and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world cases.Year 3 builds on your previous studies and introduces more specialized areas of law. The Equity and Trusts module will help you understand the role of equity and trust law, including fiduciary duties, the quantification of damages, and asset recovery. You will develop a critical understanding of equitable principles and apply them to legal problems. Land Law will focus on legal principles relating to land ownership and transactions, helping you to solve complex issues in land law while considering ethical concerns. These modules will refine your critical thinking, legal research, and problem-solving skills, preparing you for professional legal practice.
