COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, you will study foundational law modules, including Contract Law, English Legal System, Legal Skills, and Public Law. Contract Law (30 credits) will introduce you to the principles, cases, and statutory provisions relevant to contracts, providing a strong foundation for your future legal studies. The English Legal System (30 credits) module will give you a comprehensive understanding of how legal institutions function and the role of the legal profession in the UK. Legal Skills (30 credits) will expand your knowledge of legal reasoning, case analysis, and statutory interpretation, as well as provide an introduction to legal ethics. Public Law (30 credits) will focus on the UK Constitution, the powers of the state, and key issues related to human rights and civil liberties. In Year 2, you will delve into Criminal Law, Tort, and Theories of International Relations. Criminal Law (30 credits) will provide you with an understanding of criminal law principles, while Tort (30 credits) will cover areas such as negligence, defamation, and product liability. The Theories of International Relations (30 credits) module will explore key concepts and themes in international relations, including the application of these theories to the relations between states and non-state global actors. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to choose two optional modules, with the requirement that one is EU Law if you aim to pursue a career as a barrister.In Year 3, your focus will shift to Equity and Trusts, Land Law, and two optional modules. Equity and Trusts (30 credits) will build on your understanding of legal principles by focusing on trust law and the ethical responsibilities of trustees. The Land Law (30 credits) module will give you a critical understanding of legal principles surrounding land transactions. You will also study Global Geopolitics, examining topics such as the socio-economic impacts of geopolitics, issues of war and conflict, and the foreign policies of major global powers, while also exploring the intersection of international law and geopolitics.
