COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, you'll develop a foundational understanding of the English legal system, starting with the English Legal System (30 credits) module, which introduces the structure of legal institutions, the role of legal professionals, and methods of dispute resolution. The Contract Law (30 credits) module will focus on key principles, case law, and statutory provisions essential for understanding contracts, providing a foundation for subsequent studies. The Legal Skills (30 credits) module will enhance your understanding of common law, legal reasoning, case analysis, statutory interpretation, and the ethical duties of a lawyer. Additionally, Public Law (30 credits) will delve into the UK Constitution, the organization and powers of the state, and human rights law. Year 2 brings a deeper dive into criminal law and torts. The Criminal Law (30 credits) module covers the principles and statutes governing criminal law, while Tort (30 credits) focuses on areas like negligence, defamation, and product liability. The Rethinking Crime and Justice (30 credits) module will allow you to explore criminological theories, addressing the impact of power, rights, and justice on crime and punishment. In Year 3, you'll advance to Equity and Trusts (30 credits), where you'll explore trust law, the ethical responsibilities of trustees, and the principles of equity, while Land Law (30 credits) will cover legal aspects of land transactions, enhancing your ability to solve complex land-related issues.
