COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminology with Psychology BSc Honours at Middlesex University is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of crime, justice, and human behaviour over three years of study. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation through compulsory modules in psychological science, crime in social context, responses to crime in the twenty-first century, and researching crimes and communities. This first year focuses on understanding how individuals and societies interact with crime, introducing key psychological and criminological concepts while developing research and analytical skills. In Year 2, students build on this knowledge with compulsory modules in contemporary issues in psychology, research methods for studying contemporary society, and rethinking crime and justice. Optional modules, including victimology, courts, prisons and rehabilitation, and race and social justice, allow students to explore specialised areas and tailor their studies to specific interests. In Year 3, students have the opportunity to pursue advanced and applied learning through a dissertation or a learning-at-work module, alongside optional modules such as critical forensic psychology, drugs, crime and control, digital lives focusing on cybercrime and radicalisation, organised crime and crimes of the powerful, and violent crime. Overall, the program integrates theory, research, and practical experience, preparing graduates with analytical, investigative, and professional skills for careers in criminology, psychology, criminal justice, and related fields.
