COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmaceutical Sciences BSc Honours at Middlesex University provides a structured and progressive curriculum that combines scientific knowledge, practical skills, and industry relevance across three years of study. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in essential scientific concepts and techniques through compulsory modules in skills for scientists, cell sciences and genetics, fundamentals of chemistry, and form and function. In Year 2, learning becomes more specialised and applied, with compulsory modules in research methods and science innovation and pharmaceutical chemistry, alongside a range of optional modules such as pharmaceutical product development, analytical and organic chemistry, inorganic and physical chemistry, and pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics. These modules allow students to tailor their studies according to their career interests, whether in drug discovery, formulation, or chemical analysis. In Year 3, students advance into drug design and development while completing a dissertation that demonstrates independent research skills and critical analysis. Additional optional modules in pharmacology and toxicology, advanced inorganic and organic chemistry, and medical and pharmaceutical bioanalytical techniques provide opportunities to deepen expertise in specialised areas.
