COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Technology BSc offers a structured and progressive curriculum that builds technical expertise, practical skills, and professional awareness over three years. In Year 1, students establish a strong foundation in computing through modules covering computer systems architecture and operating systems, programming for data communication and networks, information in organisations, emerging technologies in practice, and the foundations of computing. This year focuses on understanding core IT concepts and how technology supports modern organisations. In Year 2, learning becomes more applied and analytical, with compulsory modules in web applications and databases, data science and machine learning, information systems analysis and design, and project management and professional practice. These modules develop skills in system development, data-driven decision-making, and managing IT projects within organisational contexts. In Year 3, students advance into specialised and career-focused study through compulsory modules in full stack development and an undergraduate individual project, allowing them to demonstrate independent problem-solving and research skills. A wide range of optional modules enables students to tailor their degree to specific interests, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, business intelligence, user experience design, enterprise systems management, entrepreneurship, or strategic information systems. Students may also choose a supervised industrial placement to gain extensive real-world experience.
