COURSE CURRICULUM

The Banking and Investment Finance BSc Honours program is structured over three years to develop strong analytical, technical, and practical skills for careers in finance. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in economics and finance through modules covering economic decision-making, applied economics, financial markets and banking systems, and quantitative methods for economics and finance. The second year advances technical expertise with compulsory study in banking and investment finance, financial mathematics, and securities and derivatives, while optional modules allow students to broaden their knowledge in areas such as data science for forecasting or personal financial decision-making. In the final year, students focus on advanced and contemporary finance topics, including data science and machine learning in finance, international risk management, ethics and sustainability, and the fundamentals of green finance. Optional modules provide opportunities to specialise further through applied trading and financial technology, business start-up, data science for policy evaluation, or a work internship. This structured progression ensures students gain both theoretical understanding and real-world application, preparing them for careers in banking, investment management, financial analysis, fintech, or further study in finance and economics.
