COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronic Engineering BEng is structured to build strong technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competence across three years of study. In Year 1, students develop essential foundations through the practical application of mathematics for engineers, electronic engineering principles and applications, and physical computing and programming. Engineering projects introduce hands-on, project-based learning, helping students apply theory to real engineering challenges while developing teamwork and problem-solving skills. In Year 2, the course advances into core areas of electronic system development with compulsory modules in design and engineering in context, digital system design, signal processing and communications, and analogue electronics. This stage strengthens analytical ability and deepens understanding of how electronic systems are designed, analysed, and implemented in real-world environments. In Year 3, students focus on advanced and integrated system-level engineering. Modules in system-on-chip design and implementation and system design and validation develop high-level skills in designing, testing, and verifying complex electronic systems. The major project and professional practice module allows students to undertake a substantial independent engineering project, often linked to industry-relevant problems, while also developing professional and ethical awareness. Overall, the course provides a coherent progression from foundational knowledge to advanced application, equipping graduates with the technical expertise, practical experience, and professional skills needed for careers in electronic engineering and related technology sectors.
