COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of this program, you will focus on building a strong foundation in creative practices, performance-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the performing arts. The Creative Practices module introduces you to various collaborative approaches, exploring how material is generated and developed through different artistic processes. Cultures of the Performing Arts examines the role of performance within society, helping you develop critical and reflective skills as an independent audience member. Through Making Performance, you will put theory into practice by creating and realizing a collaborative performance project, gaining experience in live performance and learning how to reflect on your individual and collective contributions. The Skilling Up: Tools and Techniques module allows you to develop practical skills and techniques, preparing you for more advanced work in subsequent years. In the second year, you will deepen your understanding of the music industry with Cultures and Business of Music, focusing on the cultural significance of music and its commercial aspects. The Performance & Composition/Songwriting module provides the opportunity to specialize in either performance or composition/songwriting, drawing from your experiences in Year 1. You will also participate in a Performance Festival, showcasing your skills in a live setting. The Recording and Production module equips you with the technical skills to record and produce music in both analog and digital environments. In the final year, you will enhance your skills with Advanced Creative Music Practice, focusing on diverse performance and composition contexts. The Degree Festival allows you to showcase your growth, presenting your work in a professional setting that highlights your composition/songwriting and performance abilities, preparing you for a career in the music and performing arts industry.
