COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interior Architecture BA Honours course is structured around studio-based learning that develops creative, technical, and critical design skills across three years. In Year 1, students are introduced to design thinking and communication alongside a series of studio modules focused on spatial design and understanding the relationship between people and place. These modules encourage experimentation, creative exploration, and the development of fundamental design processes and visual communication skills. In Year 2, students progress to more complex interior architecture challenges with a strong focus on public spaces. Through studio projects, they explore, design, and re-imagine interiors while gaining essential knowledge of context and construction, helping them understand how design concepts are translated into buildable and functional environments. This year strengthens technical awareness and design resolution within real-world contexts. In Year 3, learning becomes more research-led and socially engaged. Students develop independent design thinking through research for design, while studio modules focus on reuse, sustainability, and community-focused projects. Exploring and designing for communities encourages students to address social, cultural, and environmental issues through interior architecture. Throughout the course, studio practice remains central, promoting collaboration, critical reflection, and professional-level design outcomes. Overall, the program supports the development of thoughtful, socially responsible interior architects equipped with strong creative identities and the skills needed for contemporary practice.
