COURSE CURRICULUM

The Reflection on Professional Practice module (30 credits) focuses on helping students engage with reflective theory, allowing them to critically assess their professional development. This module introduces reflective practice, pedagogy, modes of learning, and communication, encouraging students to position themselves in relation to their own learning styles and career trajectories. It fosters collaborative discussion with both supervisors and peers, emphasizing the importance of learning through professional experiences and encouraging a deeper understanding of personal and professional growth.The Planning an Independent Professional Practice Project module (30 credits) equips students with the skills needed to initiate a research-based professional project. It guides students through the process of developing research aims and questions, selecting appropriate methodologies, and gathering data. This module also emphasizes the importance of ethical practices in research and provides guidance on analytical methods and key scholarship relevant to the project. Additionally, students will be instructed on navigating ethical clearance procedures, ensuring that their research adheres to university standards.The Independent Professional Practice Project (60 credits) allows students to undertake an original research project that reflects their professional practice. Drawing on the planning conducted in the previous module, students will engage in data collection and analysis, using methods like triangulation to understand how practice evolves in response to both existing literature and primary research data. The findings will be presented through a professional artefact, enabling students to demonstrate how their practice has transformed based on the research and analysis conducted. This project represents a significant opportunity for students to consolidate their learning and apply it to real-world professional scenarios.
