ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Middlesex University London, commonly known as MDX, is a public research university located in Hendon, northwest London, with additional campuses in Dubai and Mauritius. Its origins date back to 1878 with the founding of St Katharine's College in Tottenham as a teacher training college for women. The university evolved through several mergers with institutions such as Hornsey College of Art, Ponders End Technical Institute, and Hendon Technical Institute, eventually becoming Middlesex Polytechnic in 1973 and achieving university status in 1992. Today, Middlesex has over 19,000 students in London and more than 37,000 globally, representing over 140 nationalities. It delivers courses through its three main faculties: Science and Technology, Professional and Social Sciences, and the Arts and Creative Industries. The university has received recognition for its quality of education, including a Silver rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework and three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes. Over the decades, Middlesex has consolidated its London campuses into a single Hendon campus while expanding its global reach, opening campuses in Dubai (2005), Mauritius (2009), and Malta (2013), as well as regional offices across the world. The university focuses on offering a globally connected, career-focused education, with a strong emphasis on innovation, international partnerships, and practical experience for its diverse student body.
