COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in User Experience and Service Design is structured over two semesters to provide a comprehensive foundation in design thinking, user experience, and service innovation. In the first semester, students complete compulsory modules in Experience Design, Understanding People, Behaviours and Context, and Systems Thinking for Designers, equipping them with the skills to analyse user needs, behaviours, and complex systems in real-world contexts. These modules provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, helping students develop human-centred design approaches that are socially and environmentally responsible. The second semester focuses on applied learning through compulsory modules such as the Industry Project and Service Design, allowing students to work on real-world projects and develop solutions that integrate digital and physical experiences. Depending on the award pathway, MA students complete Generative Research and Prototyping for the Design Major Project, while MSc students undertake Evaluative Research and Prototyping for the Design Research Project, enabling them to consolidate research and design skills through evidence-based projects. Across both semesters, students gain expertise in prototyping, research, systems thinking, and project management, preparing them to design innovative products and services that meet user needs. The program equips graduates with the knowledge and practical experience to pursue careers in user experience, service design, and related creative and technological industries, with a focus on impactful and responsible design.
