COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sport Rehabilitation program at Loughborough University offers a comprehensive and practical approach to developing expertise in rehabilitation science within a sporting context. In Semester 1, students build a strong foundation through Quantitative Research and Further Research Methods and Project Preparation, equipping them with essential analytical and methodological skills. The Rehabilitation Sciences module provides in-depth knowledge of human physiology, musculoskeletal function, injury mechanisms, and rehabilitation principles, while Professional and Reflective Practice in Exercise Rehabilitation encourages the application of theory to practice, fostering critical reflection and professional development. Semester 2 focuses on advanced applied skills, with the Strength and Conditioning and Return to Sport module allowing students to design and implement evidence-based rehabilitation and conditioning programs tailored to athletes and active populations. Students continue to develop their professional and reflective practice skills while consolidating their applied knowledge. The program culminates in a substantial Research Project in Sport, Health and Rehabilitation, giving students the opportunity to conduct an independent investigation addressing a scientific or practical question within sport rehabilitation. Through this combination of theory, applied learning, and research, graduates gain the knowledge, skills, and experience required to pursue careers in athletic rehabilitation, clinical practice, performance enhancement, or further research within the growing field of sport and exercise rehabilitation.
