COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sport Biomechanics provides a comprehensive program designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in the analysis of human movement and performance. In Semester 1, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as Quantitative Research, which equips them with essential analytical and statistical skills, and Orthopaedic Sport Biomechanics, which examines musculoskeletal function in sporting contexts. Core Biomechanics and Theories and Methods of Analysis in Biomechanics provide an in-depth understanding of the principles, techniques, and methodologies used to measure, model, and analyse human motion. These modules combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing students for applied work in sport and clinical settings. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with Developing Computer Models for Sports Biomechanics, allowing students to apply computational approaches to simulate and interpret movement. Neuromuscular Function focuses on the integration of muscular and neural mechanisms in performance, while continued study of Core Biomechanics and Theories and Methods of Analysis ensures mastery of essential techniques. The program culminates in a substantial Research Project in Sport, Health, and Rehabilitation, where students independently design, conduct, and analyse an original study, integrating their learning from taught modules. Graduates emerge with the expertise, practical experience, and research skills needed for careers in applied sport science, clinical biomechanics, performance support, and academic research.
