COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology offers a comprehensive program designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for careers in sport and exercise psychology. In Semester 1, students begin by building a strong foundation in research and applied psychology through modules such as Quantitative Research, which equips them with analytical skills for data-driven decision-making, and Self-Regulation in Sport and Exercise, which explores techniques for enhancing performance and motivation. Performance Psychology and Management focuses on applying psychological principles to optimise athletic outcomes, while Psychology of Exercise for Clinical Populations examines the role of exercise in supporting physical and mental health. The semester also includes a substantial Project module, allowing students to engage in in-depth research or applied practice. Semester 2 continues with Qualitative Research, providing methodological tools for understanding complex behavioural and social phenomena, and modules on Mental Health in Sport and Exercise, Professional Practice in Sport Psychology, and Social Processes in Sport, which address wellbeing, ethical practice, and the influence of social factors on performance. The continuation of the Project module enables students to integrate research and practical learning, producing a substantial piece of independent work. Overall, the program equips graduates with the expertise, research experience, and applied skills needed to pursue professional roles, consultancy, or further study in sport and exercise psychology.
