COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sport and Artificial Intelligence provides a comprehensive curriculum that integrates technical knowledge, analytical skills, and industry-focused learning to prepare students for careers at the intersection of sport and AI. In Semester 1, students build foundational skills through modules such as Programming Fundamentals and Principles of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, equipping them with the technical tools needed to work with AI systems and large datasets. An Introduction to Sport Analytics introduces the application of data-driven approaches in sports, while Grand Challenges encourages students to tackle real-world issues and develop innovative solutions. Semester 2 focuses on applying these skills within the sport industry, with compulsory modules including Research and Insight in the Sport Industry, New Media and Analytics for Sport Business, and Artificial Intelligence and Society: Learning to Live with Machines, which examines the broader societal, ethical, and organisational implications of AI technologies. The Dissertation allows students to undertake independent research or a practical project, consolidating their knowledge and demonstrating their ability to address complex problems in sport and AI. Optional modules such as Collaborative Project or Sport Integrity enable further specialisation and practical experience. Together, the program equips graduates with the technical expertise, critical thinking, and industry insight needed to innovate and lead in areas such as performance analysis, fan engagement, sports technology, consultancy, and management within the rapidly evolving sports sector.
