COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Service Design Innovation provides a structured curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development to prepare students for careers in service design and innovation. In Semester 1, students engage with core modules such as Design Innovation and Service Design Innovation, which introduce the principles and methods of designing user-centered services and developing creative solutions. The Grand Challenges module encourages students to explore complex, real-world problems, applying design thinking to address societal and organisational needs. Optional modules, including Design in Organisations and Creative Producing in the Digital Economy, allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals. In Semester 2, students advance their expertise through modules such as Design Research, Design for Experiences, and Service Design Strategy, which focus on conducting rigorous research, creating meaningful user experiences, and formulating strategic approaches for service development. The Collaborative Project provides an opportunity for hands-on, team-based work, enhancing communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in applied settings. The program culminates with a Dissertation, enabling students to undertake in-depth independent research and develop innovative solutions to service design challenges. Through this combination of theoretical learning, practical application, and professional engagement, graduates gain the skills, knowledge, and experience required to succeed in service design, innovation management, consultancy, and related multidisciplinary fields.
