COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Security, Peace-building and Diplomacy offers a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students to navigate complex global security challenges and contribute to sustainable peace-building. In Semester 1, students develop core skills and knowledge through compulsory modules such as Diplomacy in the Digital World, which explores the impact of technology on diplomatic practice, Negotiation – Strategy, Skills and Leadership, which focuses on effective negotiation and conflict resolution, and Grand Challenges, which addresses major contemporary global issues. Students can also choose optional modules such as Sport, Politics, and Diplomacy or International Business in Contexts, allowing them to tailor their learning to specific interests. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with compulsory modules including International Relations and Security in the Age of Polycrises, examining how multiple simultaneous global crises shape security and diplomacy, and Strategies and Challenges in the World Order, which explores geopolitical and strategic considerations. The Dissertation provides an opportunity for in-depth independent research, enabling students to apply theoretical and practical knowledge to a chosen topic. Optional modules such as Peace and Conflict Transformation, Research Approaches in Sustainable Development, Collaborative Project, or Learning from the Global South: Field Trip further allow students to specialise and gain practical experience. The program equips graduates with the skills, knowledge, and analytical capabilities needed for careers in diplomacy, international organisations, government, and NGOs, empowering them to contribute to positive global change.
