COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Sustainable Development curriculum is structured to provide a balance of theoretical knowledge, practical application, and research skills. In Semester 1, students take core modules such as Sustainable and Resilient Development, which introduces frameworks for building sustainability, along with Sustainable Innovation, focusing on creative solutions to global challenges. Modules like Global South and International Development and Grand Challenges offer critical insights into pressing international issues, especially in regions most affected by inequality and climate risks. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with Disaster Risk Management, equipping students with strategies to prepare for and respond to crises, and Research Approaches in Sustainable Development, which develops essential academic and analytical skills. The program culminates in a substantial Dissertation worth 60 credits, allowing students to pursue in-depth research on a chosen topic. Students can further tailor their learning through optional modules. They may select from The Global Economy in Flux, International Relations and Security in the Age of Polycrises, or Media and Communication for Development and Social Change to explore specialized global perspectives. Additionally, they can choose between practical opportunities such as a Collaborative Project, a Field Trip to learn directly from the Global South, or a module in Managing Sustainability.
