COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Industrial Mathematical Modelling program is structured across two semesters, combining core and optional modules to provide a comprehensive foundation in applied mathematics and its industrial applications. In the first semester, students undertake compulsory courses in Programming and Numerical Methods, Mathematical Modelling I, and Fluid Mechanics, which establish essential computational, analytical, and physical modelling skills. Alongside these, students can choose from optional modules such as Functional Analysis, Asymptotic Methods, or Stochastic Models in Finance, allowing them to tailor their studies according to their interests and career goals. The second semester builds on this foundation with compulsory modules including the Theory of Partial Differential Equations, Static and Dynamic Optimisation, and Mathematical Modelling II, further enhancing students’ ability to formulate, analyse, and solve complex mathematical problems relevant to industry. Optional modules in the second semester, including Spectral Theory, Nonlinear Waves, Statistics for Large Data, and Computational Methods in Finance, provide additional flexibility for students to specialise in areas aligned with their academic or professional aspirations. This combination of core and elective courses ensures that students develop a strong theoretical understanding, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply mathematical techniques across a range of industrial and research contexts, preparing them effectively for careers in applied mathematics or further academic study.
