COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graphic Design and Visualisation master’s program at Loughborough University offers a structured pathway for students to develop advanced expertise in design while applying practical and research-led approaches. In the first semester, students engage with core modules such as Modelling and Deployment, Design Teams, Research in a User’s World, and Design Research Methods. These modules provide a strong foundation in collaborative design practice, user-centered research, and the methodological tools necessary for informed decision-making in complex design projects. Students learn to analyze real-world problems, apply design theories, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring they can translate ideas into viable, user-focused solutions. The second semester builds on this foundation through modules like Design Challenges: Management and Entrepreneurship, International Design Practices, Defining a Specialist Project, and Specialist Project Materials and Processes. These modules encourage students to explore professional and entrepreneurial aspects of design, investigate international best practices, and develop a specialist project that demonstrates mastery of their chosen area. Throughout the program, students are supported to combine technical proficiency, creative problem-solving, and research-informed insights to deliver innovative, future-focused design solutions.
