COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Engineering Management at Loughborough University is designed to equip graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage engineering projects effectively within complex and dynamic environments. The program integrates technical expertise with business and management principles, preparing students for leadership roles in industry and technology-driven sectors. In the first semester, students engage with core modules such as Applied Systems Thinking, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Engineering, and People, Organisation and Leadership, alongside professional development through the Core Professional Skills for Research and Employability module. Optional modules, including Lean and Agile Manufacture and Manufacturing Processes and Automation, allow students to develop specialised technical expertise. In the second semester, students continue to build their management capabilities through Project Management for Engineers and Corporate Finance, while further professional skills are reinforced. Additional optional modules such as Engineering for Sustainable Development and Machine Learning – Principles and Applications for Engineers provide opportunities to enhance knowledge in emerging technologies and sustainability. The MSc Individual Project, spanning both semesters, enables students to apply theoretical understanding to practical, real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills. By combining technical, managerial, and analytical training, this program prepares graduates to lead engineering projects, drive innovation, and contribute strategically to industrial and organisational success.
