COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Design Innovation program offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, equipping students with the ability to apply design thinking and innovation strategies within organisations and across sectors. In the first semester, students study core modules such as Design Futures, Design in Organisations, and Grand Challenges, which build an understanding of how design can anticipate trends, shape strategic decisions, and tackle pressing global issues. Alongside these, students can choose between modules in Design Innovation or Sustainable Innovation, allowing them to focus either on broader creative processes or on sustainability as a driver for innovation. The second semester continues this progression with compulsory modules in Design Research, Design for Experiences, and a Collaborative Project, ensuring students develop skills in critical analysis, user-centred approaches, and teamwork in real-world contexts. A major part of the program is the dissertation, where students explore a topic of their choice in depth, supported by research and design methods learned throughout the course. Optional modules in Service Design Strategy or Design Ecologies further expand expertise, enabling learners to engage with system-level design and ecological approaches. Overall, the program prepares graduates to lead innovative, design-driven change in a variety of professional contexts.
