COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Data Science conversion program provides a comprehensive pathway for graduates from non-technical backgrounds to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in data science, data analysis, or data management. In the first semester, students build a foundation in programming for data science and are introduced to core concepts in data science, enabling them to understand and manipulate data effectively. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to their interests, with choices including building data-driven strategies, applying storytelling approaches to data for decision-making, or exploring database systems. The second semester focuses on more advanced technical and professional skills, including data mining and ethical considerations in data use, cybersecurity, and professional practice. Students can further specialise by selecting optional modules such as big data analytics and visualisation, artificial intelligence and applied machine learning, or statistical methods and data analysis, providing a strong analytical toolkit to tackle complex data challenges. The program emphasises problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and applied learning, ensuring graduates are prepared to extract insights from large datasets and communicate findings effectively. By integrating technical competence with practical applications, the MSc equips students to contribute to organisations that rely on data to drive innovation, optimise operations, and inform strategic decision-making in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
