COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop the advanced knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required to apply exercise as a therapeutic and preventative intervention in clinical populations. In the first semester, students focus on quantitative research methods, gaining the analytical skills necessary to interpret and apply evidence in clinical contexts. Core modules include professional practice in clinical exercise physiology, pathophysiology and clinical management, and exercise testing and prescription, which together provide a strong foundation in understanding disease mechanisms, patient assessment, and the development of safe and effective exercise interventions. Clinical competencies are integrated throughout, ensuring students gain hands-on experience and practical skills in working with patients under supervision. In the second semester, students further develop their expertise through modules in behavioural medicine and continued professional practice, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world clinical scenarios. The program culminates in a substantial project in clinical exercise physiology, allowing students to undertake applied research and demonstrate their ability to design, implement, and evaluate interventions. This structured combination of research, theoretical learning, practical skills, and clinical experience equips graduates to work alongside healthcare professionals, contributing to the management of lifestyle-related and chronic conditions and preparing them for careers in clinical exercise, allied health, and research-focused roles.
